Grading ~ Materi Bahasa Inggris


Resume of Grading

            Grading is how to assess and give the reward to our students in learning process.
Grading have some purpose like:
  • 1.    Inform the teacher about what students have or have not learned. It means that grading can make the teacher know about students’ skills and abilities. And it is very important to make the teacher easily develop students’ skills and abilities.
  • 2.    Stimulate and encourage good work  by students. This grading can make the students to be more interest to learn about the materials.
  • 3.    Improve students capacity to reflect and evaluate their learning. The grading can improve student’s response in the class such as they will be more active and give their attention to the teacher.
  • 4.     Select individuals for continued education or recogniton. The teacher have to choose one of the students who are active in the class to explain again to other students. It can make other students to understand what the teacher’s explaination because there is the relationship like friendship in the class.
  • 5.    To motivate students, so we as the teacher have to use a yel-yel which like a mantra. This method is useful for them to increase their spirit.
    If we as a teacher want to handle our grading to be interesting, so we have to follow this step:
  •         We have to make our grading to be clear and it’s not confused for students.
  •         We also have to give the clear explaination to the students abour our grading.
  •         We must share our grading to students, students’ parents and especially to the administrators
  •         We have to get the signature from student’s parents when we do a test for students in order that, in can make parents know about their childrens’ weakness and strength.
    But the teacher also have to make student friendly grading practice to make them to be more active than before. the method that the teacher must do like:
  • Ø  The teacher have to use portfolios to make students to be creative and active.
  • Ø  The teacher must make a rubric or scoring guide to make the score to be consistent.
  • Ø  The teacher have to give the same rates for some materials if they are not active or active in the class. It depends on students’ skills.
    We as a teacher have to know about the time saving grade. The time saving grade is like how we as a teacher can manage our time to make students never run out of time to change their answers if they are not sure with their answers at first. Maybe, the teacher have to give the instruction to their students about what should students do first before they answer the question.
